San Francisco {Day 3}

By our last day we still had a few things we were wanting to do or see, 

but the big things were marked off our list, so our pace was a little slower. 

Partly because of that, partly because we were worn out & sore!

We got up, ate some breakfast & went down to Chinatown.

We got there as the shops were starting to open,

it was a great time to go. Quiet & laid-back!

It was so fun, refreshing and wonderful to have uninterrupted time with this guy.

I love him so much!

We {well, actually David-the pregnant momma wasn't wanting to risk the amount of raw fish} 

had lunch at the Swan Oyster Depot. 

Thankfully we got there right as they were opening for the day, 

so the line wasn't as bad we heard it can be later in the day.

 The rest of the day we just explored & shopped around the Union Square area.

There was so much high-end shopping, and lots of weird-o's, 

but fun to go in a few stores here & there. 

Mid-afternoon we got our stuff & headed to the airport to come back home.

We were tired, ready to sleep in our own bed, and see our sweet girl!

It was such a blessing to have a little getaway, and to explore a new place!

San Francisco {Day 2}

After day #1, we were pretty worn out, but I had quite the treat coming!

Before our trip, my sweet, wonderful, awesome husband booked me for a morning at a nearby spa! 

He should win an award!

There was this yummy-looking creperie next door to our hotel that I wanted to try out,

but a creperie is not quite David's cup of tea {or so he thinks ;)}. 

So we went our seperate ways for the morning. 

I had a very yummy & relaxing breakfast, and headed to the spa for my morning of relaxing.

It was WONDERFUL! 

I was treated to an hour message, as well as probably the best mani & pedi I've ever had. 

Everything about it was beautiful, serene & relaxing.

 Once I left, David & I met up to head to Fisherman's Wharf to grab a bite to eat, 

then catch our ferry to visit Alcatraz.

The Alcatraz tour was on the top of David's want-to list,

it was very interesting, and sobering, and put me in a weird mood. Ha!

But I'm really glad we got to have the experience!

After we left the island, we headed to grab some dinner. 

We had read about the Blue Mermaid Chowder House, 

and it was not to far so we went to check it out.

 My crab & corn chowder did not disappoint!

 Before we headed back to the hotel, I stopped in the creperie once more to get a dessert crepe to-go.

It was a great day, and we once again went to bed worn out. I was wishing I would have waited to get my massage right before we left to come home, because my legs were so sore from all the hills & walking!

San Francisco {Day 1}

Ahhh, there is just nothing like a nice little vacation with your hubby to make you feel refreshed & renewed. 

About 3 weeks ago we had a nice little weekend getaway to San Francisco. We really wanted to have a little babymoon for the two of us before baby boy makes his arrival & were so thankful to be able to make it happen!

Neither of us had ever been to SF, so we were excited to go check out a new city. 

We left early on a Saturday morning,

and had a full weekend of going & doing ahead.

 We decided to just use public transportation while we were there, and I have to say, I'm so glad we did! They had such an easy system to figure out & we got to take in the beautiful views of the city. We had a pass so we could just hop on & off any bus, street or cable car & it really worked out great. There were only a few times we had to wait for more than a few minutes. Our legs still got quite the workout, but overall it was great to not have to mess with driving, directions, parking & all that!

Once we got settled in our hotel, which I don't think I got a single picture of, silly me!

We headed to the Ferry Market Building for lunch & to look around a bit. It was pretty busy being Saturday & the farmers market going on, but I really loved it & had some very yummy chowder. The first of many bread bowls & chowders over the weekend, for me! :) Yum.

We loved the cable cars, so cute, fun, iconic! There was a stop only a block or two away from our hotel in Union Square, so it was really convenient for us.

After lunch we went down to the Fisherman's Wharf area for just it bit, grabbed some fish & chips to try {We decided it was best to try as much seafood & food in general while we were there. 

It just makes sense, right?! ;)} 

Then we headed to the Golden Gate Bridge. 

It was so fun to see it & was really such a pretty day to be out enjoying the sights. A little cool once we got by the water, but still really enjoyable.

 I love this dude! 

We had so much fun together & he really is the best travel partner!

As we headed back to our hotel we decided to stop & see the "Painted Ladies" and Alamo Square.

 

The painted ladies, as well as SO many of the houses in SF, especially this area of town just amaze me. 

So beautiful & intricate. 

We went back to our hotel for a little rest {our feet had done a lot of walking!},

and to freshen up for dinner. 

We decided to go to this cute little Italian Resturant, which I don't even remember the name of! 

But it was SO. GOOD! It was a really small family-run place & the food and atmosphere both were wonderful. It was the perfect end to our first day in the city!

Emma's 1st Knight Camp

Each year, my awesome parents host "Knight Camp" {their last name is Knight & they often times go camping! :)} for all their grandkids that are over the age of two.

So this year was the big year...Emma's first year to participate!

She was so excited!

My mom goes all out...special invitations, matching t-shirts, a fun new theme each year & all kinds of games, activities, books & even food to go along with it! I kinda wish I could go! ;)

Here's just a few pictures I had on my phone from when we dropped her off, but you have to go to my mom's blog to look at her pictures from their time together. 

The whole gang, they were so excited to get the fun started!

We told them to turn around & Emma just automatically put her arm around Will's waist. 

She loves her cousins!

 She was also very excited about her new tackle box & was ready to go.

 All so sweetly talking to & listening to Honey. 

I think they were wanting to know what they were going to get to do first.

Knight Camp conveniently started on our 6th Anniversary! Once I dropped Emma off, I drove home & my sweet hubby had a delicious steak dinner coming off the grill & some beautiful red roses waiting on me. We enjoyed a quite evening at home celebrating, it was perfect! 

Unfortunately, Emma got sick on the 2nd day & I had to go pick her up early. We were so bummed, but thankfully she is young enough to not really realize that it wasn't over. We came home & tried to get her back to normal after an ear infection {her 1st} and an upper respiratory infection.

Although, we were a little bummed our child-free days got cut short, I would have it no other way. 

There is nothing a momma wants more is to be with her baby when she is sick.

 Now we have all three passed this junk around {I thankfully managed to skip the ear infection part}, and are hopefully on track to all feeling good for the holidays!

Potty Training Diaries

I am writing from my home for the day, the bathroom! Sounds fun, huh!? Thankfully we are not sick, just trying to get this potty thing down. We actually started yesterday, and are now on day 2. I've decided we are going to give the three day thing a try, so we will see! I am not 100% convinced that she is quiet ready, but we will just see how it goes!



I will say that seeing emmas little naked booty run around is pretty cute & she just looks so big & cute in her big girl panties!

We have had some success...


I'm loving this cute chart I found on Pinterest. She likes putting the stickers on & cracks us up at how long she can make one m&m last. She savors each & every morsel, for sure, taking the tiniest of bites.

Right now I'm trying to decide if she has great bladder control or is being really stubborn! Ha! She hasn't gone at all over 2 hours & she's had a lot to drink! Only time will tell! :)

I'm up for tips from you fellow girl mommies out there.

Not your normal date night...

David & I just had a REALLY awesome belated 5th Anniversary date night.

{Warning: lots of talk & lots of picture...that I condensed into colleges...but this is one for the records!}

He had a conference in Philadelphia this past Wednesday & was going to leave on Tuesday morning & have the whole afternoon to himself. SO, we decide that I could tag along & we could make a FAST & FURIOUS evening trip to NYC for a DATE!!!! How exciting is that!?!

I knew it was going to be SUCH a tease, seeing that New York is one of my all-time favorite places. This was my third time to go & I think I fall more & more love with that crazy city each time I go.

We landed in Philadelphia around 3, quickly picked up our rental car and headed towards Statten Island. {Let me brag on my awesome hubby for a minute. He was AMAZING. He drove is right to the ferry without a single problem, driving through three states & the middle of statten island was no easy task at times, but he did it all with such ease! Way to go, babe!}

We got there right in time for the 5:30 ferry, hoped on & enjoyed our first sights of the city & a beautiful sunset view of the beautiful Statue of Liberty.

As soon as we arrived in Manhatten we hit the ground running & did not stop for the next 4 1/2 hours. We wanted to see {& eat ;)} as much as we could in our short amount of time. Before we went we had talked about possibly have a really nice dinner, but knew we wouldn't really get to see much of the city that way. Although we have both been & seen the big sights, it's somethings we've always wanted to do together. We we opted for quick on the go food here & there, and more sightseeing.

We walked through one side of Battery Park, just as the lights were coming on for the night, and walked through a portion of the Financial District, going pass the bull to snap a quick pic. Then we grabbed some Starbucks to get us warm after the chilly ferry ride & to give us the caffine we were going to need for the evening! After grabbing our coffee we turned a corner & came across the {not} so lovely occupy wall street protesters camp. Oh my, nasty! A very interesting sight to see, and I'll just leave it at that. We had passes for 7:00 to see the beautiful 9/11 Memorial & had a little time to kill, so we got some yummy New York pizza to go with our coffee. Nice combo, huh? ;)

THE CITY

After our pizza, we decided to head on to the memorial & see if we could get in early, and thankful we could. Wow, it was absolutely breathtaking & beautiful. It is truly amazing to be there & see it, and feel the power of what it stands for & means. I am glad we got to see it at night, it was really so beautiful. We are so glad we had made the decision to go & were able to get passes before we left. It is one of those things I hope you all can see one day.

9/11 MEMORIAL

We left & headed over to the nearest Metro station, grabbed a Metro card & headed towards the best corn you will ever eat in your life. Ha! The first time I visited NYC, it was recommended that we go to Cafe Habana. YUM. When my mom & I went several years ago, we went as well & I was so happy to get to back this trip. Serious, it's SO good.We got some good food & headed to our next stop.

We went to Times Square to take in the sights & lights, and to get Emma a little treat to take home. We visited the awesome Toy's R Us there & got some fun pictures. We decided we had just enough time to walk over to Rockefeller Center & see that as well.

After we left the Rockerfeller center area, we knew we better head back to catch the next to last ferry ride back to Statten Island. We did have to RUN just a bit to get there in time, making us both realize we needed to come home & work out. Ha! It was such a fun evening & one of those "when do you get to do something like this" moments.

I was so right, it WAS such a tease to be there for such a short amount of time. It was SO hard & sad to walk past so many of my favorite spots & shops that were already closed for the night, and know there were other amazing things just blocks away. It was so hard to pull away on the ferry knowing our night in the city had gone by WAY to quickly.

BUT, I wouldn't trade it for the world. It was such a fun night & one of those really fun & spontaneous moments with David that will be such a special memory forever. Thanks, babe for being such an awesome husband, I love you & Happy 5th Anniversary.

A wonderful celebration weekend...

 We just finished a fun weekend of celebrating David's 30th Birthday! 

A while back I questioned David on how he wanted to celebrate his big day...and after he couldn't make up his mind on what he wanted to do, he told me to just plan it {only, no surprise parties allowed...it's a pact we have with each other!! :)}. I had so much fun planning a surprise weekend & getting all the details worked out...I arranged for his parents to come in on Friday & surprise him {that small of a surprise IS allowed!} at a restaurant for dinner, it was a fun & funny moment! We enjoyed a great dinner together & headed back to our house where we had homemade cheesecake for dessert...once we could stand to eat another bite!

For the next part of the weekend I had made reservations at the Hideaway Ranch for the two of us. Emma stayed home with Happy & Grumps while we had an overnight getaway. 

We are already looking for a reason & time to go back...it was the perfect getaway. It is between Glen Rose & Stephenville...so the drive isn't too bad, our cabin was great, we didn't see any other people the whole time we were there except for check-in & out, there was a hot tub just two steps out of our back door...I could go on & on! I can't count the number of times we looked at each other to say "this is so nice!!" 

It was perfect & much needed for both of us!

Once again, Happy Birthday David! I love you & had such a great weekend celebrating with you!
