Our house...

We had a great and very productive weekend! My parents came to visit & have a "work weekend." They are so sweet to want to come & do some fun projects around our house. The boys tore down the shed in the backyard (that was in HORRIBLE shape...the doors wouldn't even close!) Then they (with some help from the girls, i might add) put up a new one & it looks so much nicer! It is great to have a safe place to put things away now...lawn mower, tools, hunting stuff, etc. since we don't have a garage.

Mom & I had some projects of our own. Here are some before & after shots of a few things we did.

This was our china hutch in our old house. It was one that was a wedding gift to parents 32 years ago & they gave it to us...

This summer I sanded it, took the doors off & my sweet Dad painted it for us & mom distressed it. Here is me & mom putting fabric on the back. (A fun trick to try...dip your fabric in liquid starch & it will stick to a surface. When you want to take it off it will peel off easily & you can just wash off the surface!)

And the finished project!! I am so pleased & excited to have a "new" piece of furniture.

We also put the same fabric on our dining room chairs! The look so much better. Our dining room table was my great-grandmothers! So it helped give it a good makeover!

It is so fun being a homeowner. Yes, sometimes it does get a little frustrating, especially when everything has to cost money! :) But it is so rewarding to do a project or some updating. And I love knowing that all of the things have been done around the house have been done by us with some help from our sweet families! I am so thankful for a husband who can do these projects and is excited to do more!

On another note...
I got to see my new classroom last week. Although there are NO window and hardly any storage...I am SO excited! My principal is wonderful & does some really neat things at the school. I am so thankful that I am going to be at a school where there is positive support & a more encouraging & exciting learning environment. I will hopefully be able to start moving my stuff in at the end of this week or beginning of next.
